Don't Want a Buck Full-Time, But Still Want Kids and Milk?

Not everybody wants to keep a buck around year-round. Bucks are useful, but they also eat every day, test fences, and require their own management setup even when they are off-season. If you want kidding season and milk in the pail without running a permanent buck, Triple 5 Farms offers a practical solution: Rent-A-Sire.

Sometimes the buck does his job in an afternoon. Sometimes he has to court the lady for a few days. Goats work on goat time, and we plan the service around real heat cycles, not wishful scheduling.

Option 1: In-House Siring (Doe Boarding at Triple 5)

Price: $2/day per nanny (doe) plus a $40 boarding fee.

  • The daily rate applies to each nanny while she is boarded for breeding.
  • The one-time boarding fee covers intake handling, pen assignment, and herd management workload.
  • Does stay until covered or until owner retrieval, based on your timeline and heat-cycle reality.

Most does cycle every 18-21 days. If she checks in already cycling, this can move fast. If she is between cycles, it may take days or even another cycle window before breeding lines up. That is normal in a real breeding program.

Closed Herd Intake Rules (Mandatory)

Before a nanny can check in for a romantic stay at Triple 5 Farms, we need to keep both herds safe. Incoming animals must meet health and biosecurity requirements.

  • Current vaccination records consistent with your local veterinary guidance.
  • No visible respiratory, hoof, skin, or gastrointestinal illness.
  • Reasonable parasite control status at intake.
  • Any additional health screening requested at scheduling based on current herd conditions.

If intake requirements are not met, boarding can be declined or delayed. We are friendly, but we are serious about herd health.

Option 2: Deliver-A-Sire (Buck Delivery to Your Place)

This option brings the sire to your property so your does stay on home ground.

  • Small sire: $75
  • Medium sire: $125
  • LaMancha sire: $200

Standard rental window is up to 30 days. It can be shorter if breeding happens quickly. Timing still depends on your nannies' heat cycle. Sometimes buck presence helps trigger activity; sometimes it does not. That is goat biology, and we set expectations up front.

Common Questions

Do I need to bring more than one nanny?

No, one nanny is fine. Multiple does can improve scheduling efficiency if they are near cycle together.

What if my goat does not come into heat right away?

That happens. Cycle timing drives the outcome. Some does settle fast, some need more time.

How long does breeding take?

Could be same day, could be several days, could need another cycle. We communicate clearly as we observe behavior.

Will you confirm pregnancy?

We can discuss observation windows and practical next-step checks. Final pregnancy confirmation should be handled through your veterinarian or your chosen diagnostic method.
